Alliteration you guys! I’m not afraid of it. This is my comic that is starting sometime in 2010! (P.S: this isn’t the final logo, I’m still working on that)

It took me 5 years to draw this comic – you would think I would have done a better job on the lettering huh? Anyway, I feel very lucky to have had the experience of working with the magnificent genius of comics Kieron Gillen on this humble project. Not a “real” comic, but more like a dream of a comic.  Sometimes dreams are enough.

It took me two weeks to draw this comic. I jokingly refer to this comic as my stations of the cross for turning 30. I once got a high five from a human who read this comic in my presence. It didn’t pay my rent, but it made me happy. I guess I made this comic because I wanted to exsist more than I wanted to not exsist. Susannah Breslin liked this comic enough to show it to Xeni Jardin, who then posted it on Boing Boing, which made me feel pretty famous and awesome for a minute.  This comic is my serenity prayer, and I hang on to it for dear life. You’re welcome if it helped you too, we are all in this together you know.

    Theory & Practice

This is a three page comic that I drew for Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie’s Phonogram.  Unlike every other comic I have ever done, this one is not online. It only exists in issue 4 of PHONOGRAM: THE SINGLES CLUB. It’s about Indy Dave going outside of his head to exist in the world, and the nice goddesses Theory and Practice who “help” him on his way. I got the idea for Theory and Practice one night while watching a Red Bull commercial. I told Kieron about them and he kindly reached in to the cruelest part of himself to write a script for me to draw.

A few people mentioned this comic in their reviews of Issue 4, and no one said anything negative. My artwork was described as “light and airy” and the spot itself, “a good episode” of the Indy Dave side quest.  I feel very happy to have got to make something for Kieron and Jamie’s excellent comic Phonogram, my all time favorite comic about dancing to music and making it matter!
